If you are renting a vehicle and driving up the Summit County and Copper Mountain, you may want to consider stopping on the way to load up on some essentials, such as groceries, snacks, wine, beer, liquor, etc. It will be cheaper down in the Denver area than up in Summit County (for the most part) and definitely cheaper than at Copper Mountain.
Also, if you driving up and find yourself in need of some food, consider stopping at Beau Jo's for some GREAT pizza. Beau Jo's is located in Idaho Springs and is about half way between the Denver airport and Copper Mountain.
Here are our suggestions for supplies:
King Soopers Grocery Store: Just off of exit 264 on I-70 West, on the way to Copper Mountain, King Soopers is a large grocery store that will have all of your favorite foods and snacks. Located in the same shopping plaza as Applejack Wine & Spirits, it makes a convenient stop on the way.
Applejack Wine & Spirits: Located in the same plaza as King Soopers Groceries, Applejack Wine and Spirits is a place you just have to kinda experience . . . its kinda hard to explain. Its a HUGE store and has wines and spirits from around the world. Prices for French wines (our favorites right now) are average, but there are bargains to be found in other wine regions and especially in the spirits section.
Beau Jo's Mountain Pies: Pizza at its best. Hungry on your way up to Copper Mountain? Stop in Idaho Springs, which is about mid-way between the Denver airport and Copper Mountain, and stop at Beau Jo's. Its worth the quick detour for their unique Mountain pizzas. They serve all kinds of tasty combinations on a thin crust pizza with a fat, airy edge that you later dip in honey for dessert. Wild but wonderful.
